Frankie Grande Responds to Bizarre Allegations
Frankie Grande, brother of pop star Ariana Grande, is hitting back at an outlandish rumor circulating online that accuses his sister of cannibalism. On Thursday, Frankie took to social media to defend Ariana after a fan jokingly suggested that the “Boy Is Mine” singer was a cannibal.
“This might be the most creative and lowest y’all have ever gone,” Frankie wrote, along with a screenshot of the bizarre story. “Reaching new depths daily!” He also made a playful remark in the post, stating, “Listen, I know my sister’s been eating the girls up for years but this a bit extreme! Besides, she’s vegan.”
The Origin of the Rumor
The cannibalism rumor appears to stem from a viral online trend where fans attempt to dissuade others from attending concerts so they can buy up all the tickets themselves. It also ties back to an interview Ariana gave in June on the Podcrushed podcast, where she shared a story about a childhood fascination with serial killers. During the fan event, she was asked who her dream dinner guest—living or dead—would be, and she cheekily replied with Jeffrey Dahmer, the notorious cannibalistic serial killer. “I have questions,” Ariana joked at the time.
Ariana’s Recent Defense of Her Speaking Voice
The rumor comes on the heels of another issue Ariana had to address earlier this week. She defended herself against criticism regarding her speaking voice after a viral clip surfaced of her using both high and low registers. During the July 9 episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast, Ariana explained that it’s normal for actors to alter their voices for roles.
Grande, who is currently filming the movie version of Wicked, where she plays Glinda, slammed the criticism as being rooted in sexism. “You see male actors do this all the time, and they’re praised for their ‘dedication to their craft,’ but when I do something similar, I’m ‘crazy,’ or people are asking, ‘Should someone check on her?'” she remarked.
Ariana’s Upcoming Projects
Despite the odd rumors and criticism, Ariana is staying focused on her career. The singer revealed that her team is exploring options for adding concert performances between filming for the two Wicked movies. She released her new album Eternal Sunshine in March and hinted that fans could expect some shows in the near future.
