A Legendary Debut at Wireless Festival
Drake turned heads in London over the weekend when he revealed a show-stopping new addition to his jewelry collection: a fully diamond-encrusted, life-sized Cogsworth pendant inspired by Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The chain made its dazzling debut at the 2025 Wireless Festival, where the rapper performed a highly anticipated three-day set. But behind the sparkle was a deeply personal story, along with months of intricate craftsmanship.
The pendant, modeled after the animated clock character Cogsworth, shimmered with nearly 155 carats of pavé-set white diamonds. Crafted from 18-karat rose, yellow, and white gold, the piece included a functional pendulum, black diamond and ruby facial features, and hand-painted enamel eyes. From a distance, it sparkled like a fantasy. Up close, the detail revealed something far more ambitious—a tribute to Drake’s late friend and fashion visionary Virgil Abloh.

The moment the chain appeared, fans erupted online. Drenched in light and draped around a matching 88-carat diamond chain, the piece stood out even in Drake’s already legendary collection. What looked like a bold flex was actually something much more thoughtful. It served as a creative homage to the man who once wore a Lumière pendant of his own.
A Tribute Crafted Under Pressure
The man behind the chain, New York based jewelry designer Alex Moss, described the entire project as a race against time. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Moss shared that the design took between two and three months to complete. The final piece had to be delivered to London just hours before Drake took the stage. “We really had to go into overdrive,” he said. “He wanted it specifically for Wireless.”
Moss, who has worked closely with Drake since the early days of his jewelry journey, said this piece was especially collaborative. Drake approached him with a vision to create a pendant that would mirror Abloh’s Lumière while still standing uniquely on its own. Together, they decided on the size, posture, and tones of the clock. The finer details, like the texture of the back, the movement of the pendulum, and jeweled bezels on the hands, were left to Moss’s imagination.
The final stretch came down to the last moment. Moss’s brother Jasper hand-delivered the chain to London to make sure Drake received it in time. Although Moss could not be there in person, he later FaceTimed with Drake. “It’s kind of hard to get someone like him excited,” Moss said. “But he was freaking out. Laughing, saying ‘This is insane.’”
Beyond the Diamonds: A Creative Bond
The partnership between Drake and Moss has become one of the most iconic in modern hip-hop fashion. From the “42 Engagements” chain to the CN Tower pendant, their collaborations combine storytelling, symbolism, and extravagance. This latest creation stands apart not just for its scale, but for its emotional weight. It is a celebration of time, legacy, and the people who inspire art from behind the scenes.
“This chain was never just about flexing,” Moss explained. “It was about honoring someone who meant something to both of us.” That someone was Virgil Abloh, whose pioneering work in fashion and design had a lasting impact on both artists. Moss even acknowledged Abloh in his Instagram post, writing, “There’s nothing more precious than time.”
Online, fans shared the sentiment. One joked that the chain looked like it could grant wishes and read bedtime stories, while another said the diamonds were “doing the Toosie Slide.” But beyond the humor was a sense of awe and appreciation for the vision, detail, and heart that brought the piece to life.
And according to Moss, this is just the beginning. “We have so many others in the works that are going to be revealed soon,” he teased. “Every time we collaborate, it’s crazy and iconic. It’s more than a working relationship. It’s something real, and I think that shows in the work.”
