Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green, who played onscreen love interests Donna Martin and David Silver on Beverly Hills, 90210, have reunited for an untitled thriller microdrama on vertTV. Production wrapped on Wednesday in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The vertical series marks both actors’ first venture into the microdrama format. Carol Potter, who played twins Brenda and Brandon Walsh’s mother Cindy Walsh on the original Fox series, also stars in the project. Plot details remain under wraps.

Behind the production

Theo Buckwald wrote and directed the thriller. The project brings together producers Jeffrey Schenck, Barry Barnholtz, Peter Sullivan, Ben Rosenthal and Brian Nolan, according to Deadline. VertTV, the Los Angeles studio behind the series, launched in July 2026 and has expanded its roster of actor-driven ultrashorts as vertical storytelling gains traction with mobile audiences.

The studio has positioned itself against AI-generated content in the sector by using traditional production methods. According to Deadline, vertTV remains committed to what the company calls “authentic artistry,” filming each series with live actors and physical sets rather than relying on generative AI tools.

The vertical microdrama landscape

VertTV’s slate includes Finding Hope, which reunites Fuller House actors Sweetin, Brotherton and Sokoloff alongside Richard Karn. The supernatural thriller Bite Club, the studio’s most recent premiere, debuted on the app after a world premiere at the ALZA Festival in New York.

The rise of vertical microdramas reflects both changing viewer behavior and shifting production economics. The Hollywood Reporter notes that microdrama production across North America is accelerating while Hollywood’s investment in traditional linear television and streaming content is contracting. VertTV operates a dedicated mobile app for iOS and Android as its distribution hub.

Other platforms are moving into the space. Peacock announced plans to premiere Bravo’s first scripted vertical entry, Charmed by a Southern Monster, with Craig Conover in the lead role and Nicole Mattox co-starring. The series, which blends romance, workplace tension and mystery, launches on Peacock’s mobile app in early November.
