Alexander Skarsgård wears clear Saint Laurent shoes to Wicker premiere
The actor sparked debate with transparent plastic footwear at the London Film Festival, while the film itself lands a one-night 4DX screening.

Alexander Skarsgård arrived at the Wicker premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on Thursday in an all-gold Saint Laurent suit paired with transparent plastic shoes that immediately split opinion among fashion observers. The clear footwear, also by Saint Laurent, debuted on the runway in June.
While the shirtless gilded suit might have dominated the red carpet on most occasions, it was the kinky kicks that drew the bulk of the response. Some fans celebrated Skarsgård’s willingness to push boundaries. “He can pull off whatever,” one commenter wrote, with another adding, “He can wear ANYTHING.” But others recoiled, with former Summer House star Paige DeSorbo declaring, “We must draw the line somewhere.” Fans also voiced practical concerns about the see-through design, with one remarking that condensation and sweat would likely fog the shoes, while another predicted odor issues from the plastic and perspiration combination.
Fashion fearlessness
The clear shoes are hardly Skarsgård’s first venture into avant-garde dressing. For the film Pillion, in which he played a leather daddy, he wore leather pants, short shorts and sequined tops. In 2025, he was among multiple Hollywood leading men who donned Saint Laurent thigh-high leather boots.
Wicker gets 4DX treatment
Skarsgård’s film arrives in theaters on October 23. The production company Black Bear subsequently announced a one-night-only 4DX screening on October 28, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The format uses motion, vibration, water and scents synchronized to the action on screen.
The film became a viral sensation after its trailer dropped, with audiences campaigning for the immersive screening.
Wicker follows a fisherwoman portrayed by Olivia Colman who hires a basketmaker, played by Peter Dinklage, to create her a husband. When the wicker figure comes to life as Skarsgård’s character, the quiet village erupts in jealousy and turmoil as the man becomes the object of desire for every woman in town.
