Connor Storrie in talks to join Ryan Gosling in Marvel’s Ghost Rider
The Heated Rivalry breakout is circling a role opposite Gosling in the Marvel Studios film set for release in 2028.

Connor Storrie, the breakout star of the hockey drama series Heated Rivalry, is in early negotiations to join Ryan Gosling in Ghost Rider for Marvel Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is slated for release on July 28, 2028.
Shawn Levy directs the project, reuniting him with Gosling and screenwriter Jonathan Tropper, who collaborated on Star Wars: Starfighter. While Marvel has not officially confirmed Gosling’s role, it is presumed he will play Johnny Blaze, the stunt motorcycle driver who becomes bonded with a demon and transforms into the flaming, skull-headed Ghost Rider. The role Storrie would play has not been disclosed, though Deadline reported he is reportedly being considered for the villain.
Storrie’s rapid rise
Storrie’s entry into a major Marvel production marks a swift trajectory. Until recently a waiter, he broke through in 2025 with Heated Rivalry, the Crave and HBO Max series in which he plays Russian hockey phenom Ilya Rozanov opposite Hudson Williams. The show is heading into a second season. Since the series premiered in November 2025, Storrie has signed brand deals and hosted Saturday Night Live, earning an Emmy nomination for the latter appearance.
Production and cast
Ghost Rider is set to begin production in New York in 2027. Cinematographer Linus Sandgren, who worked on Dune Part 3, has been hired as director of photography, and the film will shoot on film. Kevin Feige produces alongside Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Shawn Levy and Gosling, with Richie Palmer and Jessie Henderson executive producing.
The character and its history
Johnny Blaze was created by writer Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog, and first appeared in Marvel Spotlight No. 5 in 1972, with a dedicated series launching a year later. In the comics, Blaze makes a deal with the demon Mephisto to save his adoptive father, becoming the Spirit of Vengeance. Nicolas Cage portrayed the character in two earlier films: Ghost Rider in 2007 and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance in 2011, both featuring Mephisto as a primary antagonist alongside his son Blackheart. The character has also appeared in the Disney+ series Ironheart, where Sacha Baron Cohen portrayed Mephisto.
Marvel announced Ghost Rider at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026.
